First Council of Ministers of Agriculture for Dalli and Ciolos

The Council of Agriculture Ministers of the EU met in Brussels yesterday. It was the first meeting attended by the new Commissioners for Agriculture, Dacian Ciolos, and Health and Food Safety, John Dalli.

The main topic of discussion was the future of the CAP after 2013. Opinions were divided between those who argue for its maintenance and those who believe that this mechanism involves an extra expense.

The next step is to send a document summarizing the discussion to the Special Committee on Agriculture for further work about the subject.
