The Forum believes it is its duty to become a tool in order to facilitate the relationship among the different agents acting in the rural environment so that they get to know one another and comprehend the problems and conflicts as a means to resolve them.

In order to accomplish its mission, the Forum has established specific objectives.

To constitute a network of members and collaborators which gathers, coordinates and joins the efforts of the people and organisations committed to rural development and which strengthens the positions and possibilities of the WRF. The Forum emerges in order to both provide answers to specific problems and constitute a channel to guide the relationship among the diverse agents.

To gain knowledge about the different realities and conflicts occurring in the rural environment, and to create a solid data base in order to provide information for the analysis and monitoring of the realities, problems and policies.

To communicate, spread and raise awareness of the rural environment. To set up and consolidate a technical team and a network of collaborators and experts capable of analysing the information and drawing conclusions and proposals, as well as analysing already existing ones and attempting to ensure these have the desired effect on society and institutions.

The Forum will also promote development proposals. Although the Forum cannot become a research centre, it must and can coordinate organisations which have proposals for the resolution of specific problems, and facilitate cooperation, technical assistance and so forth through direct involvement in the elaboration of specific development projects and fund raising for these.

To transmit viewpoint to the authorities and international entities. The WRF must act as a lobby, a speaker of the demands of the inhabitants of rural areas.
