Brazil limits the purchase of land by foreigners

In the last years, foreign investors have increased their interest in Brazilian lands due to the last period characterized by scarcity in inputs and food products, the boom of the agrofuels and the high commodity prices. In this way Brazilian Government has approved a new rule that limits the amount of rural land that a foreign enterprise can purchase.

Thailand Governments boots home-made fertilisers
[08-03-2010]Farmers are being encouraged to produce bio-fertilisers and pesticides on their own in order to cut expenses on imported chemical products and promote healthier cultivation.
The cost of imported chemical fertilisers and pesticides has surged along with oil prices in recent years. Thailand paid nearly 99 billion baht for fertilisers in 2008 as fuel prices soared to US$147 per barrel.

Most U.S. farms—98 percent in 2007—are family operations, and even the largest farms are predominantly family run. Large-scale family farms and nonfamily farms account for 12 percent of U.S farms but 84 percent of the value of production. In co ntrast, small family farms make up most of the U.S. farm count but produce a modest share of farm output.
